N2YCR, the Amateur Radio club inside NYC Resistor, is holding a big Field Day event at our 3rd Avenue Hackerspace / Radio Lair on June 26th.  To kick off the evening of ham radio fun, we're doing a "learn to solder" class.

For two hours, you'll get hands-on instruction on how to solder a basic electronics kit.  In the process, you'll build an Arduino-compatible board that you can use for your own experimentation.  You'll also program the board with Morse Code practice software that lets you try your hand at dits and dahs to communicate in a really old-school fashion.  The kit includes a transducer (fancy name for a beeper speaker) and a practice key and hook up wire to connect these to your Arduino board.

You should bring a laptop if you want to program the board yourself, but if you just want to solder and use our systems to test things out, you just need to bring yourself!
